BON JOVI: TV APPEARANCE UPDATES

Please be advised, the planned promotional trip to Los Angeles the band was to take this week has been cancelled. Therefore, BON JOVI did NOT tape The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and will NOT be taping The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tomorrow. The shows will have other guests. At this time, there is no information on when the band's performances/interviews might be rescheduled.
JON BON JOVI made his debut on THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW today... we hope you all caught it. What an incredible one hour of TV. BON JOVI (full band, plus Bobby Bandiera and Jeff Kazee who will be joining the band out on the Have A Nice Day Tour) performed a medley of IT'S MY LIFE and YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME. Then Jon took a seat to talk with Oprah. For clips, visit www.oprah.com. Jon takes the viewers on a tour of his adopted 2nd home, Philadelphia and inroduces them to the Philadelphia Soul AFL team he owns. Jon also drives his Chevelle to a NJ fan's home and when she thinks she's getting pizza delivered for dinner she's shocked (and her dialogue needs to be censored!) when she discovers Jon Bon Jovi on her front stoop with two pizzas and two dozen roses. Most moving was the footage of Jon Bon Jovi visiting Northern Home for Children in Philadelphia - where underprivileged children have been taken care of for more than a century. Jon plays Robin Hood and suprises the kids with new clothing for school, bookbags brimming with school supplies and laptop computers. For kids with so little it was like getting the lottery. Jon also managed to stun Oprah herself into quite a bit of silence when he presented her a check on behalf of the band. BON JOVI donated $1 MILLION to OPRAH'S ANGEL NETWORK. Jon saw the work she was doing to help victims of Hurrican Katrina and noted that she was telling the human side of the story... and knew she would steward the money and make sure it was used to help the people who needed it. Tears from everyone. There was also a brief tour of Sanctuary Sound II - the studio on Jon's property in which the band recorded Crush, Bounce and parts of Have A Nice Day. Jon suprised the studio audience by giving each of them a ticket to the Chicago show on the Have A Nice Day tour... and then the band performed HAVE A NICE DAY. What an incredible show. Kudos to everyone!
Some tidbits you didn't know:
- While the footage at Chickie & Pete's is brief in the show, Jon and the Soul players (Keith Crispina and Sean Scott) actually held court as the restaurant for a few hours interacting with fans and customers - and they really did eat!
- The footage shot at Northern Home for Children took several hours. Jon was outside with the kids for a good deal of time talking, interacting and playing with them. Once one child asked for an autograph, so did another... and Jon signed everything (including a baby bottle!) In fact, some kids had nothing to sign... so they walked around the rest of the day with Jon's autograph on their hands! The playground shown in the piece was built by The Philadelphia Soul's interns who were castmembers of MTV's The Real World Philadelphia. They flew the head of Northern Home to Chicago to be in the audience for the show.
- The Dominos Pizza was somewhat cold by the time it actually got the the fan's house - it was a little bit of a drive! And Jon really did drive himself.
- No one knew about the $1 MILLION check -- in fact, it didn't even arrive until after the show itself started taping. A key member of the Bon Jovi camp was waiting for the FedEx delivery and then ran it into the studios during a break. And when you see that look of surprise on Oprah's face -- it was REALLY that much of a suprise to her!
- After the taping of Oprah wrapped, the band headed to the United Center where they did the pre-taped version of 'Someday I'll Be Saturday Night' that was included in the MTV Networks ReAct Now Hurricane Katrina Relief Telethon.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the fans who were in attendance at the Oprah taping and who kept their promise and didn't share the details... now you can finally talk about what an amazing show you were at! We hope you're enjoying HAVE A NICE DAY... that's what we're listening to while we work!
